Based in Fort Lauderdale, Dr. Almeida-Scaff is board certified in General Psychiatry and in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Originally from Brazil and having lived in multiple countries throughout her childhood, she has a particular interest in cultural diversity and provides psychiatric care for her patients in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
After earning a degree in Psychology and Biology from University of Miami, Dr. Almeida-Scaff obtained her Medical Doctor degree with High Honors from Ross University School of Medicine. She trained in Adult Psychiatry at West Virginia University School of Medicine and later specialized in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Her areas of focus include treating adults, children and adolescents with attention deficit hyperactivity disorders (ADHD), depression and anxiety disorders.
Previously a member of the faculty at the Emory School of Medicine, Dr. Almeida-Scaff has supervised and taught psychiatry residents, child psychiatry fellows, and medical students and has worked on multiple research projects. Throughout her career, she has provided consultation services, comprehensive diagnostic evaluations, and medication management for children, adolescents and adults. As a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the South Florida Council of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, she is committed to continue to be up to date on the latest mental health treatments and use that information to help you.
Dr. Almeida-Scaff currently sees patients in person or through telemedicine in Florida. She practiced in Atlanta, Georgia for many years prior to relocating to South Florida and is able to provide care for patients in Georgia through telemedicine.
